Lil Wayne must be going through an emotional roller coaster as 2009 draws to a close.
Being one of the the most successful rappers out right now and head of Young Money Records. Which features two artists inDrake and Nicki Minaj that are as white hot as two rookie emcees could possibly could be are things i'm sure he's quite proud of.
However, the rapper born Dwayne Carter has seen his good fortune stall a bit recently as run-ins with the law have caught up with him.
In February, Wayne will be sentenced to a year in jail for a gun charge in New York. He is also facing drug possession and weapons charges in Arizona. On top of that, his new rock LP 'Rebirth' has leaked months early and the reviews for the record have been lukewarm at best.
None of that mattered last night though (Monday December 28). As the New Orleans native kicked off his 'Farewell For Now' Tour in his hometown. Opening the show with his smash hit "A Milli", Weezy told the crowd "I'm nothing without you"
"I hope Lil Wayne will follow in T.I.'s footsteps," said 32-year-old Jed Wright, who brought his 11-year-old stepson to the show as a Christmas present. "T.I. promised to turn his life around. Lil Wayne can do the same thing."
Here's some footage below from the show that was spotted over at KarenCivil.com
Atlanta rapper T.I. was officially been released from a low-security federal prison in Forrest City, Arkansas today (December 22).
The rapper, born Clifford Harris Jr., is expected to report to Dismas Charities Atlanta West correctional center tonight, where he will spend three months.
T.I. was sentenced to 366 days in prison after an October 2007 incident, in which federal agents caught him attempting to purchase machine guns and silencers.
After he has finished his stay at Dismas Charities Atlanta West, the rapper must complete 500 hours of community service, in addition to another 23 days of house arrest.
T.I. is expected to work during the three months he is confined to the halfway house, according to reports.
If there was a prize for the biggest gambling debts, Terrance Watanabe would be a clear winner. At the casino tables of Las Vegas, however, he was quite the opposite, racking up $127million of debts in an astonishing year-long losing streak.
Now the 52-year-old Nebraskan - who made his money by selling his father's toy import firm - faces criminal charges over nonpayment of his debts. In turn, he is suing the Caesars Palace and Rio casinos alleging they let him play while drunk, in violation of gambling rules.
His witnesses are said to include a Caesars security guard who 'does not recall ever seeing Mr Watanabe in a sober state'.
His playing was so bad that in 2007, Watanabe lost $5million in one 24-hour binge.
Watanabe's colossal losses soon became the stuff of legend - not to mention a tourist attraction. 'It got to the point where people would go just to watch,' said one Vegas regular.
'There are a lot of things that make you cringe in Vegas - but I've never seen anything like that.' Watanabe has paid back $112million but he is refusing to hand over the rest.

During a video interview with HoodFiles.com earlier this month Cam’ron upset fans when he declared that the Dipset movement “is over.”
Diplomats Capo Jim Jones took to the airwaves yesterday (November 23) to react to Killa’s statements.“There aint no one person that can say Dipset is over,” he told radio personality Angela Yee on her Shade 45 show Lip Service. “People just been doin’ a lot of YouTubing and trying to get themselves hot. When you can’t get on the radio I guess YouTube is the next best thing to get on,” he said laughing.
In the April 2009 issue of XXL magazine Cam confirmed that he owned a majority percentage of the Diplomats. When asked if Jones was upset over the situation, the Harlem rapper got animated.
“I am Dipset,” he replied. “Whoever don’t like it come holla at me. I been Dipset. It started in the projects and ain’t nobody got me out of Apt. 5H but myself…and this is not a publicity stunt. I don’t go around sitting in shopping carts,” he continued, referring to Cam hopping in a cart at the end of the hoodfiles interview, ”I go around getting money. If there’s a problem; there’s a thin line between love and hate. “

Associated Press: CINCINNATI - The driver of a vehicle involved in an Ohio gun battle that killed a member of the rapper T.I.'s entourage during a wild highway chase has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and other charges. Forty-one-year-old Padron Thomas was initially charged with murder. But he struck a deal with prosecutors that allowed him to plead to lesser charges in exchange for testifying in December against his brother, who pulled the trigger.
A judge on Wednesday scheduled a sentencing hearing for Nov. 17, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer. Thomas faces 10 years in prison. He's already serving 17 years on unrelated federal drug charges.
Thomas's younger brother, Hosea Thomas, was sentenced to 66 years in prison for shooting Philant Johnson in May 2006 after a T.I. concert in Cincinnati.
Three others were injured in the shooting. The Grammy-winning Atlanta rapper wasn't hurt.

Swine flu has claimed its latest victim: Beer Pong.
Officials at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute are warning students that the drinking game (and college past time) was responsible for the spreading of the H1N1 virus in an incident this past weekend.
The game calls for participants to throw ping pong balls into each others' cups of beer, allowing for the easy transfer of germs from players' hands and mouths to their competitors.
According to AP, the college has reported "21 cases of swine flu, including seven students who are in isolation rooms on the school's campus."
While it was no surprise that Jay-Z was voted MTV's 'Hottest MC of 2009,' their glaring omission of another similarly-revered rapper deserves comment. MTV announced their '10 Hottest MCs of 2009' recently, by no means an easy feat, and a small thing to quibble over on a day when President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize and NASA bombed the moon, but their exclusion of Detroit rapper Eminem is interesting, to say the least.
Although Jay had the dubious support of New York Governor David Paterson and Diddy, even Hov thought the matter deserved attention. In a letter to MTV, Jay began by thanking them for putting him at Number One, saying, "Although I don't strive to be 'hot' for any particular year, I thank you for the acknowledgment. My whole goal is to be recognized as the best ever."
He somewhat humorously added the following aside, "Sidebar: Kanye moment if I may ... Eminem?!?! I think you do the credibility of this list a disservice if you don't thoroughly explain his omission," Jay continued. "As of this second he has the highest selling rap album of the year and a scene stealing verse on the best 'posse' cut of the year. (Hands mic back to Taylor Swift ... and nobody was harmed, I apologize in advance.)"
MTV defended their list, which also includes gifted lyricists Gucci Mane, Rick Ross and 50 Cent (50's hot still? Really?), saying that they had compiled the list "based on an MC's achievements of the moment, not an entire career. The criteria are based on a combination of mic skills, buzz, commercial success (sales and airplay), business ventures, Web presence, and impact." To that end, they claimed that Em had simply failed to maintain a consistent enough profile in the media to be considered truly "hot."
"His hotly anticipated return to hip-hop after a long absence drove first-week sales of over 600,000 -- the highest first-week sales of the year so far. He granted a handful of select interviews here and abroad, and was part of a massive moment with Sacha Baron Cohen at the MTV Movie Awards. But then Em retreated to the lab, where he spent the summer crafting 'Relapse 2.' From June to September, Em all but took himself out of the public eye, while other MCs generated week-to-week heat with mixtapes, guest appearances, performances and Web activity."
We beg to differ. Em's return to form has been one of the brief highlights in a fairly dismal year for rap. If Em releases 'Relapse 2,' this year, as planned, he will have released two platinum albums in one year. Also, it appears they were ranking 'Hottest MC's of September, 2009' rather than the year in full. Rae's album was great, but was Raekwon one of the hottest MC's back in January? Fabolous? 50? What's Jeezy been up to, lately?
Top 10 lists are tricky, especially when your criteria includes "impact" and "buzz," but in this case, MTV, we beg to differ.

Nelly Furtado is calling on Playboy boss Hugh Hefner to offer her a big money deal to pose naked on her 40th birthday.
The sexy singer was offered a huge sum to strip nude at the beginning of her career, but she was scared it would tarnish her chances of musical success.
Now she's older, the Canadian/Portuguese star feels more confident with her looks and career - and is inviting Hefner to make her a new offer.
Furtado, 31, says, "The magazine was even prepared to offer me $500.000, (but) I didn't want Playboy on my resume at the age of 22.

The Clippers will host Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv in a preseason game at Staples Center on Oct. 20, a benefit for the Israeli organization, Migdal Ohr, the world’s largest orphanage, officials said.
Maccabi Tel Aviv drew 18,000 at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks in its last appearance in the United States in 2007.
Migdal Ohr means Tower of Light in Hebrew, and according to its website, it is named such "for our ability to illuminate a path to a better life for orphaned, abused, underpriviledged, and new immigant children in Israel."
The orphange houses nearly 7,000 children and is said to admit about 700 newcomers each year. The Clippers held a news conference Wednesday afternoon to announce the event.
"It is good to be here today, especially because today is Israel's 61st year of independence, to announce such a beautiful project," said the Honorable Jacob Dayan, the Consul General of Israel for Los Angeles. "I would like to thank the Clippers for hosting us for this wonderful project promoting the kids in Israel. I think there is no better way to promote such a wonderful project with a basketball game."
Said Clippers GM and Coach Mike Dunleavy: "We are humbled by the great, extraordinary works of Rabbi Grossman and the whole Migdal Ohr organization. We are honored to participate in the games and bring light to this great organization and the great work they do, hopefully not only in the city of Los Angeles but throughout the world."
